1816 - Post War Discharge of Personnel

Three hundred artificers were discharge from the Dockyard in March, and 30 ships were ordered to be broken up. In August the distress in the Town was so great that it was said 4,500 persons were in receipt of relief. Soup kitchens made their first appearance in Portsmouth
