1762 - Capture of HEMIONE
May. The Active in company with the Favourite captured the Spanish treasure ship Hemione that proved to be one of the richest prizes ever to be brought to Spithead. The treasure was landed at Portsmouth and conveyed to London in 20 wagons decorated with English colours over Spanish. The treasure realised £519,705. Shares to the Officers and men of the Active were as follows: the Captain £65,053, commissioned officers, each £13,004, warrant officers, each £4,336, petty officers each £1,806 and each man £485.
